What's New Archives

Archives of What’s New (12/28/03 - 3/11/02) to get a historical perspective

12/28/03 - Eight of us met at the Center to figure out what needs to be done to prepare the space and how to best utilize the space. We will have work parties next weekend on 1/3 and 1/4 at 11AM.  Call Jerry at 503.799.4317 if you can come.

12/23/03 - We negotiated a deal with the First Unitarian Church to move into the rest of the building.  We promised to make a good faith effort to generate revenue with the space and share 1/2 with the church and pay a minimum of $200 per month if possible. Since the church will not be getting an amount for rent they were hoping for they will only be providing us with a dumpster to deal with the old carpet and other trash to be hauled away.

12/21/03 - Our 6th Soul Series event was a Winter Solstice celebration and ritual. It was a great opportunity to look at what we wanted to let go of and what we wanted to focus on as the new year begins.  Our next Soul Series event will be January 25th 2004 and we will host Frodo of Sister Spirit who will be speaking on Paganism. Hope to see you there.

12/13/03 - We had a great Get Acquainted Pot Luck and Holiday Party, we had hot cider, trimmed a tree, socialized and generally had a good time. The next Get Acquainted Pot Luck will be January 10th 2004.

11/16/03 - We had our 5th Soul Series get together at the Center and we heard about Taoism and similarities to CWG, it was a great discussion. Join us on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 3-5PM to hear about the beliefs of major faith traditions.

11/8/03 - A large group of us celebrated the Harmonic Concordance by joining in the worldwide observance through visioning, chanting and meditation. Then we had a great Get Acquainted Pot Luck.  Join us next month on Saturday December 13th at 5PM for our Holiday Pot Luck & Get Acquainted Party.

10/30/03 - Christian Pankhurst from the UK spoke at the center and did a great job in waking us up to a happier life and how to be more fully into our Humanity’s Team mission it was great to have him here and he will be back again in February. We were the 24th of 30 workshops he is doing in his tour of the US that started in September. Thanks Christian for a great night.

9/19/03 - Updated the Get Acquainted Potluck page and and added the current week’s events to reflect the week of 9/22.

9/13/03 - We had another great Get Acquainted Potluck at the Center, I was at the LEC Men’s Camp Out so I had to miss it.  The next Get Acquainted Potluck will be October 11th at 5PM. It is a good way to get together with like minded people and meet in a social setting.

9/12/03 - Updated the current week’s events to reflect the 9/15 week. Added further mention of a workshop that HT & CWG Center of Portland are sponsoring called Playing From Within, it will be facilitated by Humanity’s Team Global and will be November 21-23rd.  Added a link on the home page to the The Humanity’s Team Center of Portland.

9/7/03 - The Humanity’s Team Center of Portland had a booth at the recent Peace Quake event put on by Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) in the PSU park blocks. A variety of of local, national, and international peace and cultural groups were present, and there were cultural music groups and inspiring speakers on stage throughout the day. We had our beautiful new Humanity's Team banner on display, along with the six CWG books and informative handouts. Many people stopped to find out more about Humanity's Team and took our handouts and center calendars with them. It was a great start to getting the word out about our organization, and a wonderful experience to be in the presence of so many other groups working toward change. We hope to be at many such events in the future. If you are aware of any such fairs or festivals, please let us know!

9/6/03 - The beginning Humanity’s Team Center of Portland website is up and a very good start. Special thanks to Jude Norris for her work putting this together.  Updated the Conscious Loving Workshop page to reflect the next workshop on 11/8/03.

8/16/03 - Updated the Conscious Loving Workshop page, updated the Get Acquainted Party page, added a page for the current week’s events at the center to be updated each time I send out the email. Added a page about the Center’s vision to expand into the upstairs and downstairs at the 1236 SW Salmon location.

8/10/03 - After the media outreach team put together an ad, our first paid ad in the New Community Connection was placed and will come out in September.  It is a business card size display ad in the main body of the paper.

8/8/03 - We obtained the URL’s HumanitysTeamCenterofPortland.org & com and started work on a website.

8/4/03 - Advisory Board Meeting minutes:
1. Financial report
2. Look at expanding into the upstairs. I had an appointment set with the Church landlord on 8/12 and there were questions I needed to get answered, amount to pay, could we have another person live in the space and could we use some of the space in advance.
3. It was decided not to divide up the rooms downstairs due to interest in upstairs and concerns that it might not look as good as it does now.
4. The Humanity's Team and New Spirituality Action group reported on projects in process and completed and the growing energy.
5. Mark Delphine presented why he thought CWG Center and HT Center would make a perfect match to Libertarian politics. It was discussed how we would have to be careful about 501c3 issues and Mark was oked to speak as a guest on Thursday 8/14. He also talked about a fund raiser he offers to non-profits, a Charitable Remainder Trust so that people who have appreciated assets can put them in trust, it is income for the non-profit and saves taxes for the person setting up the trust.
6. We went over changes to the schedule for September and October. It was decided that the Friday groups would give way to Kari and Doyle allowing time for HT work groups to use the center from 6-8PM each Friday followed by Spiritual Movie Night from 8-10PM. Starting the first and 3rd Thursday in September Renee Evans will start a New Spirituality Emotional Support group and we will have guest speakers only on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays. We also looked at setting up speakers for those nights and having MC's lined up.
7. We scheduled a meeting to work on marketing the Playing Within workshops that will be put on by HT US for Friday 8/8.
8. We talked about starting the S.O.U.L. Series in October where speakers from major faith traditions will come to the center and present about their faith Sundays from 3-5PM. On the 4th Sunday of the month the speakers from the first 3 weeks would come in for a panel discussion. There would be a list of faiths willing to talk that would present in rotation. I will be heading it up for now at least. If you know of anyone who would like to speak let me know. So far I have only gotten a Jewish representative set up.

7/9/03 - Our first “New Spirituality” Group was well attended and it was decided besides study materials related to “New Spirituality” the group would be the primary focus of

Attendance at Thursday Guest Speaker night (for Jude) Jude was concerned that she was the only one there one night and when we have a guest we need to come and support them - I brought up we might be wise to have a Master of Ceremonies to open the door, introduce speaker, manage interruptions? 7/1/03 - The CWG Center of Portland filed with the State of Oregon Corporate Division to do business as the Humanity’s Team Center of Portland as suggested at the Humanity’s Team Leadership Gathering.

6/28-30/03 - We were a major force in organizing volunteers and supporting the first Humanity’s Team Leadership Gathering that was held in Wilsonville, Oregon at LEC. Well over 60 people from the Portland area attend. Well over 1100 people from 37 countries other than the US attended.  It was a powerful kick of to Humanity’s Team.

6/25/03 - We were the first CWG Center to sign up to host a “Playing Within” workshop that are to be put on by Humanity’s Team Global, we will host the “Inspiring the Inner Team” segment November 21-23, 2003 and “Inspiring the Global Team” on February 27-29, 2004.

6/2/03 - Advisory Board Meeting minutes::

Doyle and Kari agreed to work on getting a banner - now we have a banner
We looked at the volunteer sign up for the Humanity's Team leadership gathering - lots signed up and many of us did volunteer
We decided to start the SOUL series in the fall and set our calendar for July and August
Worked on ideas for a tri-fold brochure
Talked about free ads and press releases - the free ads are placed
Looked at list of minor things to be done to make the center ready for our grand opening
We talked about printing up business cards for the CWG Center of Portland people who would want to use them (sorry I can not find the list)
We decided to put off sending out mailers to people in the Portland are who are on the CWG Foundation database
We decided to put off working out fund raisers (Don Eaton has offered to do a fund raiser when we are ready - Harmonic Convergence offered to do a concert also or maybe they can be combined)
There was no other Other business
After the meeting it was brought up that one person on the June schedule did not plan to come to the center for their class if no one called in advance to say they would be coming - I talked to those Advisory Board members who had been at the meeting to come up with a temporary policy - we will look further at that at our next meeting

5/26/03 - Updated most pages to reflect all the new activities and set up a page that contains our calendar and updated this page.

5/25/03 - While doing sign up for volunteers for Humanity’s Team at LEC on Sunday I talked to Alan Peterson of the band Harmonic Convergence about his desire to play at the Humanity’s Team Leadership Conference. I said I would help him get to the right people with the CWG Foundation.  He also volunteered to be a part of a fund raiser for the Center.

5/23/03 - After the Neale’s talk both Rob Winn and I talked to Don Eaton seperately and talked to him about doing a fund raising concert for the center later this year. He agreed and said he would love to do it and the sanctuary at the First Unitarian Church that we get to use 6 times during our lease would be a good place for the concert.

5/23/03 - Neale Donald Walsch was at Beaverton Unity and it was a very good evening spending time with the author of the CWG.  Neale continued on talking about how the Humanity’s Team Leadership Gathering at LEC the end of next month would be an event that will mark the beginning of the positive forces getting organized. Don Eaton provided the music and debuted his new song the Hope of Humanity which is the theme song for Humanity’s Team.

5/18/03 - I followed up on a letter from a couple of inmates in the Federal Penitentiary in Sheridan, Oregon.  They were interested in someone from the center helping them with their study group in the prison. I told them we could start a dialogue and likely find people interested in helping them.  The CWG Foundation had sent the letter on to me to see if we were interested in supporting these prisoners.

5/13/03 - Neale Donald Walsch was at Christ Light Unity Church in Gresham and it was a very good evening spending time with the author of the With God books. Neale was very humorous and seriously looked at how the message of The New Revelations and of a New Spirituality could transform the world.  He talked about his new initiative of Humanity’s Team.  There were 10 of us from the Center there and it was a great way to support the effort.

5/10/03 - We had our 3rd Get Acquainted Pot Luck and our first one at the new location. We had 14 people attend and 2 of those were new to us. It was a great time. We had volunteers working that day to clean up from our work parties at the center and put the final touches on the renovations to the center. I had picked up furniture for the center or 24 white resin chairs and a kitchen table. We are starting with a Spartan yet tasteful furnishing plan that fits our budget. Doyle was busy setting up the donated home theatre system (we also had a 27 inch TV monitor, hi if VCR and a microwave donated). And someone donated a table that they brought with them.

We of course ate lots of great food and had lots of discussion and merriment. We also took some time to update everyone on the latest events around the Humanity's Team Leadership Gathering that is coming to Portland the last weekend in June. The event is being held at LEC. Roberta Winn, who is working with LEC coordinating the event and is on our board talked to us about the latest information on what the CWG Foundation needed from us to support the event. It was good to hear that for the first time we had a list of what was needed from volunteers. We were told that LEC was allowing us to recruit volunteers from their congregation and that we needed people there to represent Humanity's Team at LEC for the next 3 Sundays to sign up volunteers.

We had 12 of the 14 people sign up to volunteer for Humanity's Team and we had plenty of people sign up to be at LEC to sign up volunteers. We also had a time where people talked about themselves and what had brought them to CWG and the center.

OUR NEXT GET ACQUAINTED POT LUCK WILL BE JUNE 14TH OR THE SECOND SATURDAY AT 5PM. At this time we plan to have one each month on the 2nd Saturday because it is a good way to socialize and bring in people that have shown interest and are on our data base and have not been to any event yet.

5/5/03 - We had an extremely productive Advisory Board meeting on 5/5 and we covered:

1. Finances, based on our getting fully reimbursed for the $1434 that had been put into the center we were able to pay off the credit cards and have to months rent set aside that we had originally planned on and also have almost $800 to furnish the center.

2. As far as furnishing it was decided we would go the Spartan approach and buy 24 white resin chairs and save as much of the money as we could.

3. Anna had done a great job getting the basics of our master calendar in place and we finalized how that would look and the events we would be offering which would be every weeknight and some weekend events.

4. Reported on what was left to do at the center and what had been accomplished.

5. Looked over the numerous free ads that had been placed in New Connection.

6. Talked about Neale's two visits to Portland area churches this month.

7. Talked about the Humanities Team Leadership Conference and our involvement with volunteer activities.

8. Talked about seeing about scholarships for our leaders that would like to go to the two day training after the conference how none were able to go if they had to pay the $650.  Five of us were interested in attending.

9. Worked on how to handle set up and clean up after the monthly 2nd Saturday Get Acquainted Pot Lucks.

THE NEXT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING WILL BE MONDAY 6/2 FROM 7-9 PM AT 1236 SW SALMON, HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

4/27/03 - The final vinyl floor was completed by my wife and I and all that was left for the center to be ready was just some final clean up and touch up.  What a great job we all did!

4/21/03 - Added Craig Bowman’s site to the Leader’s Links Page.  Added information about our 3rd Get Acquainted Party which will be on May 10th and it will be the first one at our new location, so come out and see us and the new place.

4/19/03 - The new vinyl is down in the bathroom and the vanity and sink are ready to be put in.  The vinyl has been purchased for the kitchen and dining room.

4/15/03 - The final 3 of 6 coats of Varathane were put on the floors and now the floors are refinished. That was a much more involved job than anyone expected.

4/14/03 - We had our second Advisory Board Meeting at the new Center location. We had the meeting so quickly so that we could complete plans for our Grand Opening Celebration. The Grand Opening will be held the entire month of June and will lead up to the Humanity’s Team Leadership Gathering at the end of the month of June. The Center is supplying volunteers to support the CWG Foundation putting on this event at LEC on 6/27-29/03.  We worked out the final details of our May and June calendar so that ads could be placed in the New Connection Magazine and press releases could be sent out about the upcoming events at CWG Center of Portland.

4/7/03 - We had our first Advisory Board Meeting at the new Center Location. We set up a marketing plan and filled our schedule starting in mid May so that activities will be going on every Monday-Friday evening at the Center.  Also there will be weekend workshops starting at the Center in May. I will be leading a Conscious Loving Workshop on Saturday May 31st from 9AM-4PM.

4/2/03 - The floors are sanded and ready to be refinished and we have our first The New Revelations Study Group at the new Center location at 1236 SW Salmon.

3/22/03 - Based on how slowly the painting was going I rented an airless sprayer and as the house was finally being emptied of the stuff left by the prior tenants the whole house got a fresh coat of paint and looks oh so much better. The next day we got all the old carpet out and the pad up.  Next week the floors will be refinished.

3/15/03 - We had a great time at the Get Acquainted Party, there were 17 people in attendance and 7 people none of us had met yet.  So the party was a success at many levels. Lots of good food, singing, and palm reading, etc. Pictures to follow.  We also had our first painting party at the center.

3/10/03 - We had 6 people attend our last advisory board meeting.  We completed our current round of visioning.  We came up with the same vision we had started with and added several purpose statements and a long list of values. We could see that we are making progress and still have a ways to go and will complete the tasks of moving into our new space first.  We had a treasurer's report which showed we had very little in the way of cash $96.86 but are still on track to make the first months rent and build up around one month of rent in reserve.  That does not include getting some chairs and furniture for the center and paying for materials to paint and redo the floors. If you would like to donate to the center please let me know.

We approved the plans from our first get together at the center on 3/8 where we decided we would paint every inch of the building including the ceilings, refinish the wood floors and put down tile in the bathroom, kitchen and dining room.  We set up work parties for the Saturdays and Sundays through the end of the month.

We finalized plans for the March 15th Get Acquainted Potluck Party at Cheri's house.

Finally we set up OUR NEXT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING TO BE AT THE NEW LOCATION ON APRIL 7TH AT 730-9PM (originally there was to be one on 3/31 also, but in polling those usually attending we decided it would be better to allow time to finish the floors.)  We will start having Advisory Board Meetings on the first Monday of each month.

3/5/03 - Updated this page and the home page to reflect leasing our first physical location.

2/26/03 - Renee and I negotiated a quite attractive lease with the First Unitarian Church on the old Outside In building at 1236 SW Salmon. We took in the white board sheet we had used at our Advisory Board meeting that had all the finances of the center lined out.  It was a way for us to follow CWG principles and be fully transparent. We negotiated 2 months free rent and take possession of the building early next week to start fixing the place up (which was a part of the deal and they will help with materials.) The 2 months free rent will allow the center put down a deposit of one months rent ($1000) and replace the money we paid for the first months rent. That covered my biggest concern that there be no personal guarantees and that we could have a months rent in the bank.  So it is an extremely exciting time in the life of the Center.

2/24/03 - There were 7 of us at the last Advisory Board Meeting. Paul called to say he would not be there but phoned in his treasury report. So I presented the Treasurer’s report.  With deposits that were about to be made we had $1116 in the account. Which led into our next discussion of making a final decision whether to attempt to negotiate a favorable lease for the old Outside In building owned by the First Unitarian Church.  We went through the finances and came up with the fact that we would be about $140 short per month including the estimations for utilities. Our subleasors said they could do their part in making up the difference so it was decided by consensus that we go forward negotiating the lease. Renee had talked to the church first and was the only one at the meeting available and interested in helping me negotiate the lease so that became the plan.

We had a report on the meeting Renee and Cheri had with the CWG Foundation team and producer of the first Humanity’s Team Leadership Gathering on June 27-29 at the Living Enrichment Center. It sounds like it will be a very powerful gathering of people from around the world and we are glad to be a part of supporting the event with volunteer energy.  Our people were told a task list would be coming out soon that would outline more opportunities for the Center to support the event. Please check out www.humanitysteam.com for the latest information and to sign up for this historic event.

We worked on final plans for our second Get Acquainted Party that will be 3/15/03 at 5PM at Cheri Johnson's house.

We set up our next and hopefully last visioning session (for now at least) of the Advisory Board and our next Advisory Board planning meeting for 3/31/03. As always all the decisions about the direction and activities of the center are made by the Advisory Board and to be on the Advisory Board you just need to show up.

2/10/03 - Eight people attended our advisory board meeting on 2/10. We had one new person join the board. Of course if you have an interest in the center and would like to help with the direction of the center all you have to do is show up to an advisory board meeting and that makes you and advisory board member and that is where all the decisions about the center are made.

We worked on our reworking the vision of the center, made good progress on that and should finish with an improved vision at the next visioning meeting in March.

We talked about the Center renting the old Outside In building at 13th and SW Salmon. Renee and I both were impressed with the First Unitarian Church that owns it and the space itself. It appears it would be a great place for the Centers first physical location. The money is looking closer but it would still be a stretch. We have 3 people putting in money toward running the center every month at this time and 2 or 3 people wanting to rent space. Of course it would not hurt if someone else stepped up and committed ongoing funds to the center of any amount. 6 people planned to check out the building soon after our meeting and we planned to make a decision about whether to proceed at our next advisory board meeting.

2/2/03 - Updated the home page to reflect scheduling our second Get Acquainted Party for Saturday March 15, 2003.  Also added a page with pictures from our first Get Acquainted Party.  There would have been more pictures of the festivities but I had a problem with my new digital camera.  Updated this page to reflect results of my trip to Ashland to meet Neale and meet with the CWG Foundation Director.

1/27/03 - We had 7 of us attend the Advisory Board Meeting. We worked on these items of business, some new and some continuing:

1. Discussed
Humanity's Team and the center's involvement. We had several volunteers ready to call people in our local database who have expressed interest in the center to see if they would be interested in volunteering to support the event Neale and the CWG Foundation are putting on at LEC the last weekend of June of this year. I reported we still have not received details from the CWG Foundation about how we could be of service. I committed to contacting Rita, the CWG Foundation Executive Director, to let her know that we had some volunteers already ready to support the event and Humanity's Team.
2. We talked about how well the Get Acquainted Party had gone. I mentioned at least one person who had missed it had asked when we could have another and we had an offer of Cheri's House in SE as a place to have the party. It would be easier to have it there since she would not have to haul her Karaoke equipment to the party as she did to the last one. The next
Get Acquainted Potluck will be on Saturday 3/15/03 at 5PM.
3. Renee has come up with a house for us to set up the CWG Center of Portland in. It is owned by the First Unitarian Church and used to be where Outside In was located. It is 2500 square feet. We could lease half of it. The cost is more than we can afford unless we get some commitments for ongoing support of the Center from somewhere. The church would very much like to have us in there and would negotiate a good deal for us just to have us there. I went by last week and checked it out and met with the Church Administrator, it would not take too much work to clean and paint and have a great place for the center.

1/25/03 - We had a great Get Acquainted Party to get the people who have been a part of the center from the beginning with the new people who have shown interest in the center since we mailed an announcement of the center out to the Portland Metropolitan area. We had 16 people and several of those I had never met in person.  We shared great food, listened to music, Paul played and sang and we sang Karaoke. It was a lot of fun. Rita Curtis the Director of the CWG Foundation attended also and it was great to have her available to answer questions about what the foundation is up to. It was the first time many of the people had heard of Humanity’s Team that Neale is sponsoring.

1/24/03 - Updated the Relationship Workshop page and the Current Activities page to reflect the date of the next workshop Saturday 3/8/03.

1/22/03 - We had the largest attendance ever at The New Revelations Study Group.  We had 13 people, we are continuing to work on the study guide and are having some amazing discussions.  Come and join us! You will fit in even if you have not started the book yet since we are only on page 86. We have extra copies of the book to loan out.

1/21/03 - While in Ashland I met with Rita Curtis the Executive Director of the CWG Foundation to talk about how we could support the Foundation around Humanity’s Team. The CWG Center of Portland has been asked to be involved in setting up a Humanity's Team Center here in Portland and helping put on an event at the Living Enrichment Center (LEC) the last weekend in June of this year. It will be a free event to gather people from all over the world to start building the energy of a worldwide grassroots network of like minded people to help the world become the grandest version of the greatest vision we ever had of the world and to help us all become the Highly Evolved Beings (HEB's) spoken of in CWG Book 3.

Neale and a number of speakers will be at LEC for the event in June. The entire CWG Foundation staff will be here to help set up the event and we have been asked to volunteer to help with the event and the efforts to build Humanity's Team.  As I get details of the event and details of what we are being asked to do I will be passing on those details.

1/20/03 - My wife and I went to see Neale in Ashland for one of his Monday night talks. It was good to see him in person and meet him. He talked about something new that he and the CWG Foundation have started. It is Humanity's Team or a means for all of us to have a greater impact on the world. 1/13/03 - At our last advisory board meeting we worked on and refined our purpose as a center, went over the list of possible groups or offerings, added to the values for the center and looked at the vision.

We also see that a location for the center looks closer and closer mostly due to the synchronicity of there being several board members who are also looking for space and when we combine forces it adds to the possibilities. We discussed what we can afford and how much space we could use.

1/6/03 - Made some adjustments in the notifications of the Get Acquainted Party.  On several places I had not mentioned the month. Adjusted the Current Activities Page to reflect that the Master Mind Group has ended.

1/1/03 - Happy New Year from the CWG Center of Portland! Wishing you the very best for the brand new year.  I am convinced 2003 will be a banner year for the center.

12/25/02 - Sent out notification of the Get Acquainted Party that will be Saturday January 25, 2003 starting at 4 PM. Set up an information page for the party on the website and added mention of the party to the Current Activities Page and Home Page.  Updated the Current Activities Page for the return of the Book 1 Study Group to Tuesdays.

12/18/02 - I was unable to attend the last The New Revelations Study Group due to a New Warrior function.  I understand that 10 people were there and they had a good discussion and covered several pages on Chapter 8.  We will not be meeting the next two Wednesdays since they are on Christmas and New Years. We will meet again on Wednesday January 8th from 7 - 9 PM. We will be studying Chapters 8-10. Hope to see you there.

12/16/02 - We had an amazingly powerful Advisory Board meeting, there were 9 people in attendance.  As planned we worked on our vision of the center. We looked at what we had come up with so far and worked to make that into a mission statement for the center.  We realized that we would need to work on this over a longer period of time and assigned ourselves to work on it for the next meeting. We had a financial report from the treasurer and a report on our approved 501c3 application. We could feel that we are close to having our first physical location for the center and several people plan to work on finding and following up on places for the center.  We planned the get acquainted party that we were talking about having.  There will be announcement of that coming out very soon. The other items on the agenda were tabled till a later meeting. Our next Advisory Board meeting will be on Monday January 13th from 7:30-9PM and we decided we would meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday for at least the next couple of months.

12/15/02 - Updated this page.  Updated the Relationship Workshop page and the Current Activities page to reflect the date of the next workshop 2/8/03 and added a hit counter. Added The Revelations Study Guide page which will always have the latest version of the study guide being produced by the local study group. Added a hit counter to the Hawaii Retreat page and started the counter at 100 as are all hit counters on this site.

12/14/02 - The Online Study Group for The New Revelations continues to grow slowly and added it’s 14th member. There is a members from Poland, Ireland, England and Guam.

12/11/02 - We had our eighth The New Revelations Study Group tonight and we had 10 people the biggest turn out yet.  We have had 13 different people all together.  Even the ones who had not started reading the book yet said they got a lot out of it.  And if you do not have a copy of the book it is at the library or we have 3 extra copies for people to borrow. So not being up with us on the book is no excuse.  We will be continuing with chapter 8, we ended on page 77.  Hope to see you at the group!

12/4/02 - We had our seventh The New Revelations Study Group tonight and we had 9 people the biggest turn out yet. We continue to make progress on the study guide. It may help some people catch up with us if you come to the group and join us.  I can send it to you as a word file.

11/30/02 - Added a hit counter to the home page and started the count at 100.

11/27/02 - We got our advance ruling approving our tax exempt status (501c3) through 12/31/06. Based on our donation record over the next 4 years we will get a permanent ruling on 1/1/07. Mrs. Morris who handled our filing and sent 17 questions to prove our tax exempt status had questions about some of the activities we plan to engage in. We were required to send in a statement allowing the IRS to consider some of our activities as taxable if we did not provide proper documentation and answers justifying their tax exempt purpose. The extremely good news was that there were no activities of concern after I had provided the 21 pages of information in response to their 17 questions. So the news is totally positive. If you are interested in more information on this we will be discussing it at our next Advisory Board (AB) meeting.

11/21/02 - We had our 6th Advisory Board Meeting and covered the following items: 1. Paul provided a report on our finances through 11/21 and our final balance in our account was $194.66, 2. I reported that we had 11 people show interest in the center up to that point from our mailings to 389 people in the metropolitan area.  There were also 3 people that I work with who have become involved with the center.  There was definite interest in a get acquainted party by a number of those who were new to the center and lots of people who were really excited there was a center and expressing interest in helping out. Also updated people on the progress on our 501c3 filing, the local TNR group and the online TNR group that the center sponsors, 3. We talked about the scouting for a physical location for the center.  It turns out one of our new AB members is looking for office space at this time and it looks like we could share the space and it would be a win win for all of us, 4. We updated the new people about the messages we planned to put on flyers to support people who have been wounded by religion or who are anti religion to help them see that the God of CWG is like no other they have heard of, 5. We talked about a get acquainted party and a coming out party announcing ourselves to the Portland area which would be a much bigger event, 6. We also got volunteers to do some beginning research around taking time shares in as a tax write off for the owner and a source of funds for the center.  Thank you Gail and Anna, ,7. It was brought up that since we are moving again as far as energy it would be good to start at our next AB meeting assuring that we really know where we are going and who and what we really aspire to be as a center.

I would like to welcome Renee Evans and Gail Sinclair to the AB. Gail has been involved in numerous ways with non-profits and it is clear that she is a fine addition to the growing energy of the center. Renee is an author and is deeply interested in helping people deal with how fundamentalist religions wound people.  Visit her web site at http//www.anotherviewpoint.com/ and find out how well her energy fits into what we are up to at the CWG Center or Portland.

Remember all are AB members when they choose to be by showing up at a meeting of the AB even if it is for only one.

OUR NEXT ADVISOR BOARD MEETING WILL BE ON A MONDAY AGAIN, 12/16/02 AT A NEW TIME 730-9PM AT MY OFFICE AT 2318 NE MLK AT THE VOA/MEN'S RESIDENTIAL CENTER.  HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!

10/30/02 - We had our second The New Revelations Study Group tonight and it was better than I imagined possible. The part that amazed me the most about the group was how the group members were determined to not only study the book but to provide a study guide for the book as a part of the process to share with the CWG community. For next week we will be reading pages 23-49 in preparation and picking areas we would like to discuss.  Updated the Ongoing Groups page to reflect the end of the Tuesday night book 2 study group. The announcements of the center were mailed to 389 people in the Portland metropolitan area this week.

10/23/02 - We had our first The New Revelations Study Group tonight and it was very good. For me it was most helpful in us brainstorming how to use the message of the new book to transform the world because it certainly needs it and also how to see the perfection in it as we hold a space for change.  For next week we will be reading the first 36 pages in preparation and picking areas we would like to discuss.  Updated the Ongoing Groups page for an error that had been pointed out to me. The announcements of the center were sent out by email today and the mailed version to 389 people will go out this week.

10/16/02 - We set up an Online Study Group for The New Revelations book so that we could spread the message to those besides the ones in the local area. Updated the current activities page to reflect the new group.

10/15/02 - Updated the home page to reflect the release of The New Revelations book, the current activities page and ongoing activities page to reflect the new study group for the new book.

10/14/02 - We had our 5th Advisory Board Meeting.  Our major focus was on sending out an announcement of the center’s existence to all those in the CWG Foundations data base that reside in the tri-county area.  Along with a letter of introduction would be a flyer for the upcoming Hawaii Retreat and CWG Relationship Workshop.  The flyers will be emailed out first to the data base and then mailed to those on the data base. Other new business was setting up a starting date for The New Revelations: A Conversation With God Study Group. We also approved what we had come up with as far as ideas to promote our message to people who had been wounded by religion or people who were looking for some meaning in their lives.  Based on Anna’s conversations with a realtor it appears we could get a storefront in Portland for less than we had imagined ($130-300/month) we will follow up on this further. We also talked about places we could leave the four Pocketful of Inspirations booklets that come to us each month from the CWG Foundation.  Our next Advisory Board meeting will be 11/23/02 at VOA.

10/11/02 - I am working with the CWG Foundation to see when we can get Neale to come to Portland and do a fundraiser for the Center. It looks like it won’t be till next spring. I updated the Ongoing Groups Page.

10/9/02 - I am on chapter 22 of The New Revelations: A Conversation with God, it is an incredible book and we will be starting a new group to study the book and find ways to implement the message of how to literally save the world by changing the underlying beliefs that do not support a peaceful and harmonious world.  The group will start either 10/21/02 or 10/23/02.  We will work out the final details at our next Advisory Board Meeting on 10/14/02.

9/30/02 - The newest CWG book was released today and is called The New Revelations: A Conversation with God.  To find out about the book click here.

9/30/02 - We had our fourth Advisory Board Meeting.  Our major focus was on how to reach a wider audience and what we could do about locations for events or study groups besides homes.  We brainstormed on how to start ads or flyers and came up with the following.  Glen said he had not found the time to look for a location but still thinks it would be good to at least know what a storefront on a busy street would cost per month. So several people took on the task of checking with realtors to find something around 500 square feet.

9/23/02 - Updated the Ongoing Activities Page to reflect the latest contact information. Updated the Hawaii Retreat Page now that the retreat is set up and ready to take registrations. The retreat will be 3/14-20/03 and space is limited. It is a fundraiser for this center.

9/8/02 - We had our third Advisory Board Meeting.  We again talked about locations to hold study groups and events. We also talked about how we could attract people to CWG those who have been harmed by or just don’t want to have anything to do with religion.  We left the meeting with an assignment to work on some kind of message that could be put on flyers to let people know that the God of CWG is not like what they have been used to.

8/20/02 - Our application for 501c3 or tax exempt status was mailed out to the IRS.

8/19/02 - We had our second Advisory Board Meeting.  Paul our treasurer presented a report on our finances.  Anna completed her report on fund raising.  We formed a committee to see about us having a booth at the upcoming Mind, Body Spirit Expo. We had a discussion about possible locations to hold study groups rather than homes. We had donations come in for the last of the funds needed to file our 501c3 application with the IRS.

8/12/02 - We had our first Advisory Board Meeting. I presented a report on the first several months of operation both financial and what had been accomplished. The estimated budget for the center which was needed for the 501c3 filing was approved.  The bylaws were approved. I also presented a report on my visit with the Executive Director of the CWG Foundation.  Anna started her report on possible fund raising opportunities.

8/10/02 - Updated most pages of this website to reflect our current structure. Updated the Home page, added groups in the planning stage and the new Master Mind Visioning Group to the Current Activities page, added more possible groups to the Visioned Events page. Updated the About Us page, Volunteers page and Fundraisers page.

8/6/02 - We finally found a bank that would give us free checking and savings and accepted our paperwork.  So we now have an account with Key Bank.

7/25/02 - Had the first official Board of Trustees Meeting.  All actions up to this point were approved by the board and a resolution to open a bank account was oked.  We looked at how to align the Bylaws as previously visioned, to the current structure of CWG Center of Portland. We looked at fundraising and advertising options that had been researched by Anna.  My vision that the Advisory Board would make all decisions was approved, so the Bylaws and fundraising and advertising options will go to the Advisory Board for approval.  The next Advisory Board meeting was set for 8/12/02 7-9 PM at my office at VOA.

7/15/02 - Updated the Home Page and the About Us Page.  More updates to come now that I have settled on the web design software to use for this website.  The legal structure was finalized by the Leadership Team, the Board of Trustees was selected and an Advisory Board was set up and replaces the Leadership Team.  The majority of the work and decisions will be made by the Advisory Board. All are welcome on the Advisory Board. Anyone else having an interest or connection to the center is an Interested Party which means they will receive updates on planned events but will not be involved in planning or attending meetings.

6/21/02 - We now have the domain name of CWGCenterofPortland.org and com.  This site has been transferred to a new ISP. Angie’s Tuesday CWG Study Group listing now has the lessons that will be covered through July.

6/12/02 - Filed for a Federal Employer Identification Number.

6/11/02 - Filed to be a Non Profit Corporation within the State of Oregon.

6/9/02 - Updated the Current Activities page and the special  events part of it about the upcoming picnic.

6/5/02 - Updated the Current Activities page and the special events part of it about the upcoming picnic.  Also updated the Contact Us page adding our new mailing address.

6/3/02 - Updated the home page, the special events page (part of the current events page) and the fundraising page.  Ran all pages through a spell and grammar checker and made some changes.

6/2/02 - Updated the home page and the volunteers page.

5/31/02 - Deleted the Leaders update page and added this page to replace it.  Updated the Current and Special Events pages of the Current Activities page.  Updated the Leaders links page, adding Anna’s description to her page link.  Figured out how to center the pages in all browsers.  Updated the home page.

5/30/02 - We received official approval of our status as a CWG center from the CWG Foundation.

5/29/02 - Finally got the web site published close to the way it currently is now.  Three more pages were added and the pages under construction were at least presentable.  Applied for CWG Center of Portland designation through the CWG Foundation.

5/28/02 - We had a great leadership meeting following the study group.  We merged the group I planned to start with the one that had been working on getting more direction; we all liked the synergy of it.    Glenn offered to put up some money to get a domain name and an ISP to host this web site. At the time I told him I would likely put that off till August. After spending 2 hours tonight not getting the current ISP to work I will be moving that time frame up.

5/26/02 - Started this website with 10 pages that were mostly under construction notices.

5/26/02 - Attended the Sunday Visioning Support Group.

5/24/02 - Emailed an idea that we could combine and become the CWG Center of Portland

5/16/02 - Started reaching out to the two people who had started CWG Centers here in the area.

5/6/02 - After attending a men’s sweat I was gifted with the fund raising idea to market donated timeshares by a friend and saw that I would not need to wait to get started on the CWG Center.

3/11/02 - First found out that CWG Foundation was supporting people to set up CWG Centers and realized that would be a part of me being the grandest version of the greatest vision I ever had about myself but thought it would be some time before I could set one up due to funding.
